Well, even though we’re officially in shoulder season, there is still plenty to draw one to Eastern Ontario during the oft blustery month of November. Here’s a quick overview of the happenings for 2010:
Canada’s oldest cheese factory now has the cash it needs to set up a facility designed to help them pump out more eco-friendly products. Leona Dombrowsky, MPP for Prince Edward-Hastings, was treated to thunderous applause from Ivanhoe Cheese employees, after she announced the McGuinty government will award $377,000 in provincial funding to the Madoc cheese-maker.
For those of you who may not know it is officially National Cheese Day! Likely the lesser known holiday behind the United States ‘Inauguration Day’ but equally important, and quite frankly much tastier.

Or will you just enjoy a tasty slice of your favourite Artisanal brand from your local Farmer’s Market (might I suggest the Cape Vessey from Fifth Town). Me, I think I will perhaps nip down to Black River Cheese and grab a bag of their delicious Garlic Curd, in appreciation to a food that has earned it’s own slice of our yearly calendar.
