Hastings Beer Festival – Guest post by Curt Dunlop

3 weeks tomorrow we launch the first craft beer festival in Stirling!

Tickets are available online now! www.hastingsbeerfestival.ca
They are also available from Donna at Barley Days Brewing in Picton.
They will be available on Monday at Rustic Routes in Stirling.

There are 16 Ontario Craft breweries confirmed, and a few more pending. There will be lots of beer to sample.

We will be moving down to the county on October 10th to do a lot of direct marketing. You’ll find us playing lots of music, giving away beer and tickets, on the radio and in local restaurants/pubs/cafes. We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be playing the Stinking Rose in Campbellford on THU OCT 13. If you want us to make an appearance at your favourite spot, let us know!

I had a great weekend in Stirling, Belleville and Prince Edward County; I was spoiled at Capers restaurant Saturday night, and then spent Sunday enjoying a drive around PEC, stopping at numerous cheese companies and wineries.

A match made in hops heaven

Recently the Toronto Start posted a story called Beer and cheese: A match made in hops heaven.  The writer, Josh Rubin, comments that while wine and cheese might be a staple of party planners everywhere, for a truly rewarding match, knowledgeable foodies should turn to beer.

We’re not suggesting that wine and cheese don’t go well, because they do.  But we want to highlight that beer is another good match and worthy of attention.

If you’d like to learn more about beer and cheese pairings, make a point to attend the upcoming Beer Festival on October 15th!  It’s taking place right here in our Artisan Cheese Region at the Agricultural Museum in Stirling.  More information on the poster below.
